The first annual reporting deadline for Non-CO₂ Aviation Effects reports under the EU Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) framework was 30 June 2026.
Following the commencement of reporting activities, aircraft operators experienced a number of operational challenges while processing flights through the Non-CO₂ Aviation Effects Tracking System (NEATS).
Reported issues included unexpected system errors, periods of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, and processing difficulties affecting the calculation of Non-CO₂ aviation effects for reportable flights.
The NEATS support team continues to investigate reported issues and release system improvements to support successful report generation and submission.
Recognising the operational difficulties experienced by aircraft operators, several Competent Authorities have extended the reporting deadline to provide additional time for report preparation and submission.
The Dutch Competent Authority has extended the reporting deadline until 31 August 2026.
The Italian Competent Authority has extended the reporting deadline until 31 July 2026.
The German Competent Authority has not issued a blanket extension. However, operators experiencing genuine reporting difficulties may request an extension, with approvals granted on a case-by-case basis up to 31 August 2026.
The Spanish Competent Authority has extended the reporting deadline until 31 July 2026.
The Maltese Competent Authority has extended the reporting deadline until 31 August 2026.
The Polish Competent Authority has extended the reporting deadline until 31 August 2026.
Aircraft operators administered by other Member States should continue monitoring communications from their respective Competent Authorities, as reporting arrangements and extension policies may differ between jurisdictions.
